Xiaomi Mi 5 and Xiaomi Mi 5s: Similarities and Differences

Before you plan to buy the Mi 5s or still willing to continue with Mi 5, take a look at the specifications of Mi 5s and Mi 5 below:

• Like the Mi 5, the new Xiaomi Mi 5s also flaunts a 5.15-inch full-HD display with 600-nit brightness and 95 percent NTSC color gamut. Both the phones have a pixel density of 428ppi.
• While the original Mi 5 was powered by a Snapdragon 820 clocked at 1.8GHz., the new Mi 5s in spite of being powered by same Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, is clocked at a speed of 2.15GHz.
• Mi 5 was launched in three different variants in China featuring 3GB of RAM with 32GB storage; 3GB of RAM with 64GB storage and 4GB of RAM with 128GB storage. But, the new Mi 5s comes in 3GB RAM with 64GB storage as well as 4GB RAM with 128GB storage models.
• While the original Mi 5 came with a regular planar fingerprint scanner, the latest Mi 5s features an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor placed on its home button.
• From photography point of view, Mi 5s sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX378 CMOS sensor. It has a 4-megapixel front camera, with large 2-micron pixels. Xiaomi claims the camera of Mi 5s to be ultra-light sensitive. But, Mi 5 had a 16-megapixel rear camera with OIS, f/2.0 aperture, and two-tone flash, and a 4-megapixel front camera with large 2-micron pixels.
• As compared to 3000mAh battery of Mi 5, Mi 5s is backed by 3200mAh battery.
• While Mi 5 was comparatively lighter at 129 grams and measured 144.5x69.2x7.2mm, Mi 5s has a metal brushed body weighing 145 grams and measuring145.6x70.3x8.2mm.
