Kangana Ranaut's advice to Deepika Padukone: Don't care about pesky style cops

Kangana Ranaut, who has been taken to the cleaners for clothes before, says we should dress as we please

When Deepika Padukone made her international red carpet debut at the European Music Awards held in Rotterdam last month, she wasn't hailed for choosing a swamp green ensemble by Monisha Jaising. A London tabloid even labelled it a Bollywood blunder. Deepika made a comeback, interestingly picking the same designer for an event in Dubai, just a few weeks later, and gathered mixed response. She played it safe, said most.

While battles are often fought solo in Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut is someone you can bank on for surprise support. Ahead of walking the ramp for designer Manish Arora recently, Kangana said, "What's embarrassing about labels? Everyone is entitled to their opinion. When you are out and about in show business, you can't please everyone. It's not a big deal what the style police says. I don't care what people say; that's the attitude to have. If I fail, no one feels worse than me. I don't have to react to what others say about my life."
There is reason for her to offer advice on style. She's often turned out better than most actresses, and is credited with carrying off luxury brands with élan. Though she's past her faux pas days, she did crack a joke about teaming shorts with fishnet stocking as a 20-year-old.
