Film promotions took a new turn on Bigg Boss this Sunday when actors Tusshar Kapoor and Aftab Shivdasani joined host Salman Khan to convince contestant Mandana Karim to leave the game show and promote the film Kya Kool Hain Hum 3, of which she is a part.
According to a contract with Balaji Motion Pictures, Mandana Karimi was to devote 20 days of promotions for her film Kya Kool Hai Hum 3. Having been inside the Bigg Boss house, she was not able to honour her commitment, with only a week left for the film's release.
Mandana refused to leave the show. She threw a tantrum.She threw a fit . She almost stomped her feet and wailed to Salman, “I feel hopeless!”
Salman though, heard her say ‘homeless’, and berated the Iranian beauty for not treating Bigg Boss like her home. Known to melt in Caucasian and semi-Caucasian company, Salman for once remained unmoved and insisted Mandana must fulfil her professional duties.
Some more wailing and pleading followed. The damsel in distress got more and more distressed as her two co-stars Tusshar and Aftab tried to convince her that she must do the right thing. The matter was finally sorted with a video-recording of the Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 producer Ekta Kapoor giving Mandana one week’s time to finish with Bigg Boss before paying attention to the promotion of her new film.
All this was done on camera under the threatening shadow of a lawsuit.
Reality shows so far have indulged in a rigged reality. But here was an instance of a potentially legal issue being sorted amicably on camera, because it was good publicity for the film anyway, and with Salman bhai playing mediator, there isn’t much of a choice .
This is not first instance of a Bigg Boss participant of foreign origin being unable to promote a film because its release clashed with her stay in the Bigg Boss house.
Elli Avram faced a similar situation in Season 7 of Bigg Boss when she was needed for the
promotion of her film Mickey Virus. But here’s the catch. Elli and Mandana in the Bigg Boss house got a lot more attention and publicity than they would have outside the Bigg Boss house.
